Design of Final Fantasy XV

Design of Final Fantasy XV -

(NO SPOILERS)

Being a first time player of the franchise, I really enjoyed the game. From it's gripping story to fun combat to beautiful open world and characters, the game provided me with a unique experience.

The game is pretty long with 15 main chapters that takes an average player around 25 hours to complete. While some chapters are longer than the others, they all tell a gripping tale of four friends during a vicious war.

Level Design -

The levels are designed with the player character's and the supporting character's abilities in mind. Which makes it a lot more exciting to sneak around enemies or strategically take them down by using an arsenal of moves provided to the player.

A lot of the areas the players visit in the main story are pretty memorable, have multiple levels of elevation and support/encourage different play styles.

Enemy Design -

FFXV has different enemy types that force players to use different weapons and spells against certain types and also use different strategies and moves to take them down. More powerful enemies (as the story progresses) are immune to certain attacks and require specific weapons to deal more damage to them.

Enemy types are easily discernable and are indicative of their style of fighting, allowing players to switch weapons that can be effective against them.

Combat -

The combat system isn't as sophisticated as many other RPGs or JRPGs and doesn't allow unlocking new moves or powers. Players can carry up to four weapons or spells (elementals) with them and attack enemies with the help of the 3 supporting characters, who can also use chain attacks along with the player.

The game features skills trees that allows for strengthening attacks and teamwork.

The screen can feel too crowded at times and can be confusing for the players to evade and attack, because of the supporting characters fighting alongside the player.

The game be easy to play on any difficulty, regardless, it doesn't fail to amuse new players or fans of the franchise.
